We know how frustrating it can be to have to call the surgery when our lines are busy. This is why we have been trialling eConsult at BHWC. It has been very successful and we would like you all to use it whenever possible. If you can use eConsult it means you free up the phone line for those who are not able to access oonline services or have an urgent request. It’s better for you, for the rest of our patients and for our practice staff. It is quick, easy and simple ot use.
How you can benefit from eConsult
eConsult allows you to seek advice from your GP at BHWC or to help yourself to manage your condition or symptoms at all hours of the day, from wherever you are.
The service will make interacting with your clinician more convenient -you may not have to come into the practice to get help, meaning you don’t have to take unnecessary days off from work or can stay at home if you feel poorly.
You won’t have to queue on the phone as soon as we open in order to get an appointment – you simply tell us what you need help or advice for, and we will let you know if you need a face to face appointment, and how soon this needs to be.
If your problem might be treated without a face-to-face appointment, saving you a trip to your practice. Instead, your GP may call you to discuss the best next steps, send you for tests before a face-to-face appointment, or send your prescription to the local pharmacy to be collected.
What is eConsult?
eConsult is a clever bit of software that allows you to quickly and safely get help and advice from BHWC clinicians online, for free, from anywhere.
eConsult is a form-based online consultation platform the collects your medical or administrative request and sends it through to us to triage and decide on the right care for you and everyone else.
Stay home, stay safe, but don’t ignore your healthcare. Submit an eConsultation so we can help you.
Why use eConsult
By submitting an eConsult your doctors can make sure every patient gets the right care, saving appointments for those that need them. If you can use eConsult it means you free up the phone line for those who are not able to use the internet.
We don’t always know what is wrong with us, which is why we go to the doctors. By submitting an eConsult you give you doctors all the information they need to decide on the right care for you and your family.
eConsult is available to use any time, day or night, from any device connected to the internet. There is no need to wait in a phone queue or visit the practice. It takes just 3-4 minutes to complete an eConsult and your practice will get back to you within 2 working days, if not sooner.

Choose the relevant section for your need or request.
Fill out the information requested and submit your eConsult. Questions may change depending on what you input.
We will review every eConsult we receive and decide on the next best step to help you. This means you may not need to visit the practice for an appointment. We will contact you by sms, email or a telephone call.
In December 2020 BHWC patients were asked to share their feedback about using the eConsult service at Brighton Health and Wellbeing Centre. Here is a summary of their responses:
